Cirque Shanghai Gold
We have had quite the FUN weekend, something to entertain us nearly every evening. I know it must end soon as the school quarter progresses and Alma becomes very busy- but for now I am relishing it. Saturday was Cirque Shanghai Gold! We went last year, before "gold" was added to the title and were totally amazed. When we heard it was to be even better, we knew we couldn't miss it. So, despite the horrible humidity and the hordes of mosquitoes, we joined the audience at Navy Pier and prepared ourselves to be amazed! And we were not disappointed. Here I must add a {disclaimer}, their feats are so amazing with so much movement it was difficult to capture in photo.

Here the acrobats amazing flexibility is shown. The way they twisted and bent themselves was amazing, and made it difficult at times to tell which limbs belonged to who.
Here are the wonderful "plate girls". Twirling plates on the ends of long poles- difficult. Twirling plates on the ends of long poles and moving around without dropping anything- even more difficult. Twirling plates on the end of long poles and standing on top of others who are moving around without dropping anything- {impossible} and yet shown above.
Feeling overwhelmed yet? That is how this show is! Something like 70 min of nonstop, mind-blowing action. Above are the "chair girls". One girl on the bottom supporting all the weight and keeping balance as the girl above built the platform out of chairs while she climbed it. And then as shown in the picture the girl on the bottom lets go with her hands and continues to hold it all in balance.
These are the "pole guys". They jumped and climbed those poles and flipped from pole to pole with amazing speed and agility. Definitely one of my favorite parts.
And here was our other favorite part. Hanging out with Lindsaey and Jim! They were our buddies last year for this show, and we knew we had to see it together again. What a great night!
